Hospital system pays $98.15 million to resolve allegations of improperly increasing in-patient admissions.
Community Health Systems, one of the largest for-profit hospital chains in the country, agreed to pay the United States $98.15 million to resolve allegations in multiple lawsuits that the company deliberately billed the United States for inpatient health services that the company knew should have been billed as either outpatient services or observation. This firm represented the whistleblowers in one of seven different cases filed around the country that that was resolved through this settlement.
